In Manhattan some people got a little help staying warm this winter season.
Palms Upon My Hands, Inc. had 170 coats up for grabs at their first ever giveaway Monday, February 17th. The Bronx nonprofit organization runs workshops and support groups to end domestic violence.
The jackets were courtesy of the New York Cares Coat Drive and members of the Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ Of The Apostolic Faith, where the distribution was held. One volunteer from Palms Upon My Hands, Alexa Henry, says "It's dangerous if you're not being, if you're not warm enough outside. For the past two days, it was, like, 30, 20 degrees? That's way too cold for people to not have a coat on."
Volunteers also handed out snack bags with information about Palms Upon My Hands, Inc.
